Be a Running Mentor to a Needy Youth and Change Two Lives – Their’s and Your’s

Teens Run DC is recruiting mentors for our 2014-15 season! Fill out a mentor application.

What is Teens Run DC (TRDC)? TRDC is a non-profit organization that empowers underserved youth in DC to set and achieve personal goals through a mentoring and distance running program. Students and mentors participate in running practices and races throughout the academic year. Mentors support youth and encourage them to reach their full potential.

What does it take to be a Mentor? No prior running experience is required! All you need is heart and the commitment to be involved in a student’s life for a full academic year. Mentors participate in weekly community runs on Saturday mornings at Judiciary Square (see their calendar for details). Mentors also maintain contact with their mentees during the week. All mentors must fill out the mentor application and must undergo a required background check through DC Public Schools.

Do Mentors receive support? Yes! As members of the TRDC community, mentors are supported by experienced mentors, coaches, and TRDC staff. New mentors receive an orientation and regular mentor trainings.
