Just finished 100 Marathons, Memories and Lessons Learned from Races Run Around the World, by Jeffrey Horowitz. Highly enjoyable romp, mixing race advice with stories about bathroom breaks, losing toenails, all the good stuff. Plus musings on why we run. “Running, to me, is what the cathedral was to the masses in the Middle Ages: a visible declaration of the wonder of creation. For me, running is the best expression of a runner’s faith. Through pain and injury, and success, we are who we are, and become who we want to be.
