I’m a typical runner, which is to say that I’m not much of a swimmer.  Still, I aspire to be a swimmer, and one sure-fire way to get me motivated to practice a new sport is, of course, to get me loaded up with new gear.  This led me to the Free Country Aqua Tech series and their Geo Diamond Board swimsuit.

What attracted me first to this product was that this was a high-performance swim suit that wasn’t skin-tight.  For those of us who like to leave a little to the imagination, and perhaps also wear our sports clothing as casual wear when getting a post-workout smoothie or snack, a pair of loose-fitting swim trunks is a must.  Free Country’s Geo Diamond Board swimsuit fit the bill.

In many ways, this swim suit felt like running shorts.  It’s lightweight, breathable and stretchable, with an elastic band in the back and drawstring closure in the front.  As with running shorts, it also has a mesh lining and an interior pocket for keys and cash, with a velcro closure.  There’s also a larger exterior zippered pocket which, as an added bonus, also serves as a pouch to fold the entire swimsuit into for easy storage.

Botom Line: will you see this swimsuit on any Olympic athletes?  Not likely.  Will you see them on me?  Yes.  And better still, right now they’re discounted online by almost two-thirds.  Check out
