There are obese vegans with unhealthy diets, just as there are obese omnivores with unhealthy diets. The key is to try to cut out the junk and eat a balanced diet, whether or not it includes animal products. But as nutritionist and author Nancy Clark noted, “hard training trumps everything. Diet, if it’s healthy, isn’t going to make that much difference.” There are no shortcuts around solid training to becoming a better runner.
