Some people train to race; I race so I don’t have to train.
Well, not completely, but sometimes it feels an awful lot like that. Now, for instance. I’m running the Freedom Run marathon tomorrow morning in West Virginia, then the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half-Marathon on Sunday, and the Chicago Marahton the following weekend, all in preparation for the Cairo Ultramarathon in November.
Sound crazy? If you can be disciplined enough to suppress the race-start adrenaline rush and stick to a compfortable pace, using a race is a lot more fun than doing a long, unsupported run on your own.
Let’s see if this crazy plan works — stay tuned!
